Guilty Pleasure

I like spending time with Kelly, exploring new places, cooking show, reality television, reading, cooking, playing with my nieces and nephews and E! That is right, my guilty pleasure is watching all the Kardashian drama, gossip shows (The Soup and E! News), and just the pure craziness on E!. One of my most favorite shows is Chelsea Lately. Now before you freak out, I am nothing like her. Vodka is not my best friend, I am not a fan of little people (she likes to call them nuggets) and do not curse like a sailor. However, I find her extremely funny. So funny that I bought her book and devoured it in 24 hours. She is just so ridiculous and witty. My mom hates the show and wishes I would not watch it. My brother, John, and I were watching it at Christmas and she got up and left the room. Sorry mom! Kelly even indulges me and lets me watch Chelsea Lately on occasion. It is just a good break from all the evils in the world. I do think that after watching E! for too long of a period, that it will reduce your IQ a few points. I, however, am ok with that.
Side note: My next book is Lucky by Alice Sebold. She is the author of Lovely Bones and it is a really deep, dark book about a brutal act of rape. I just wanted to share this so you don't think I am a total moron.

New Digs

Welcome to sunny Arizona. Kelly arrived on Feb. 6th and I arrived in this gorgeous sunny state on Wednesday...just a few hours before the big snow storm of 2010 hit DFW. Every year I have the same weather problem at the airport. Winter must know when I am about to leave and wants to delay me any way it can. This year, I decided to get a flight out the day before and I am sure lucky that I did that. I would not be here enjoying the blue skies and sunshine! Plus, Kelly has a lot of extra time right now so we get to spend more time together exploring the great state of Arizona.

The above picture is where we will call home for the next 7 weeks. This place is even closer to the ballpark that our last place was if that is even possible. Last year we were 4 minutes away and this year we are 2 minutes. This definately beats driving 45 minutes from Scottsdale to get to work. We really are pleased with our apartment this year. Bigger than last year and it has a laundry room that is big! It is the little things that please us in life.

Our building is right next to the pool so we won't have long to walk when we want to get some pure Arizona sunshine or soak in the hot tub after a long days work. The pool isn't as fabulous as last year but it does have a cool water feature that you can hear from our patio. Speaking of our patio, it faces the mountains. Nothing beats a sunset with the mountains in the background. In fact, I sat out on the patio 30 minutes yesterday reading and enjoying the view. I just love that fact that you see mountains every day. It is such a nice break from just seeing concrete and highways back in DFW.

I just love Arizona and am so excited to be back here.

My First Shower

Before I was to head west for the mountains of Arizona, I was treated to a Valetine's Tea in honor of me! My boss Taunee, coworker Ashleigh and former coworker Candiss, gave me the sweetest and most girlie shower. They had everything from heart shaped sandwiches to pink champagne to a pink candy bar. It was so sweet and so pretty. They all took off work to decorate all day!

My sweet candy bar with lots of tasty treats!

Look how pretty! Everyone just loved the desserts!

For those of you feeling like a little bubbly, they had pink champagne!

The pretty table. They had all of my favorite foods there. So yummy!

Look at this gorgeous gift wrapping and it was in my colors!

Hanging out with good friends at the shower. Rose took pics all night for me and Dubbs...she just made me laugh.

Yea for bathroom items! I got such wonderful presents. Kelly is going to love it when he sees all of them!

The hostesses: Ashleigh, Taunee and Candiss

Me with all of the moms and of course, Hot Moma Duck

My mom had a great time! She was just as excited as I was.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and being so generous. I felt so special and am so lucky to have such wonderful friends!

My Ever Growing To Do List

Getting ready for a wedding and leaving for Arizona is a lot to handle. Combine that with our Winter Caravan craziness and that makes for a very stressful January. I have marked off several wedding to do's but have put off getting my dress. I had most weekends booked and something was always coming up. So D Day finally arrived. My mom came up and we blocked out a day totally for the wedding. I found my dress and have even started alterations. Whew...that was a really big worry for me especially since stores kept telling me that it would take 3-5 months to get a dress in. I was almost freaking out. I had lots of people praying for me to find a dress! I bought off the rack (gasp!) because I could get alterations moving faster. I was so relieved and finally felt like a bride instead of a chicken running around with her head cut off. We also ordered rehearsal dinner invitations and the programs at Paper Planet in Fort Worth. I love that place! If you ever want anything custom made, visit that place. There is even a cake store connected to it so you can sample cake while picking out your paper supplies. So so fun!

Here I am in the dress! You only get a peek!

Here is the back of the dress getting altered for the bustle. During the ceremony it will have a train and a long bow.

Here we are! Mom was so so so happy to be there!

The next day, Meme and I took Kellissa to find her dress. Her she is in her dress and they even had it in purple. I loved it and so did she. Her dress is being ordered....they come in faster! It was a very productive weekend wedding wise. Now off to Arizona!!!
