We came to Arizona for work and baseball,
We wish Surprise had a shopping mall!
Our day starts way before the sun comes up,
We like the name Doug for when we get a pup.
It is cold in the mornings, and warm during the day,
When we get off of work, we like to play.
Wake up, go to work, work out, hot tub, go out to eat,
Everyday we seem to repeat.
Feels like we are living Ground Hog Day all over again,
Come on Rangers, we need a win!
In Arizona, we have had lots of good eats,
Will somebody please come rub our feet!
I have burnt my hand and Kelly's fingers are crackin',
please remember that I do not like smackin'!
We miss everyone and wish people would come see us,
If you are like Justin, you can take a bus.
We have missed birthdays and the birth of Lainey Hope,
It is Lent, go visit your Pope!
We will be back to Texas in four weeks,

Valentine's 2009

Even though Kelly and I have been dating for well over a year, this was actually our first Valentine's together. Last year we had to celebrate early as he had to be in Spring Training which was fine, but I was really looking forward to actually sharing the day with him. I started planning early. While he was gone to work, I decorated our apartment with red and white hearts everywhere. (I am sure the maintenance man appreciated it when he had to come and fix the washing machine!)

I aranged our gifts really cute and couldn't wait for him to come home. When he got here, he was definately suprised. It took a few minutes for him to stop laughing to thank me! Oh well, E for effort.

Kelly and I decided awhile ago to go to one of our favorite sushi places for dinner. Stingray Sushi in Scottsdale is so good. When you walk in, there is an aquarium under the floor so you have to walk on it. Pretty cool! We had great rolls, good conversation and good times. Following sushi, we had dessert at Metro. Kelly said it was the best bread pudding he has ever had.

At this point, I still hadn't taken one picture which is totally not like me. So I pulled out the camera to shoot my favorite subject...Kelly! If you have ever taken a picture of Kelly, you would know that he only opens his eyes for pictures about 5% of the time. He claims he has super sensitive eyes and doesn't like the light from the camera flash. This made me laugh so hard. Poor guy was propping open his eyes, making them super wide...anything to make them open when I took his picture. I had to take 14 pictures to get at least 2 decent ones.

These were the best that I could do!

After dinner, we came home and opened our gifts. Kelly's mom gave us super sweet cards which we read first. It was so thoughtful of her to send those to us. Then we opened our cards and gifts. Kelly went above and beyond. He gave me a beach themed purse and a pair of Ed Hardy sunglasses. I was so excited! Kelly got Bose headphones, a book of our trip to New Orleans and the new Pat Green CD.

I think we had a great Valentine's. It is so fun to spend time with Kelly when we aren't interrupted or rushed b/c we have a million things to do. I am so blessed to have him in my life and am so excited that he is going to be my Valentine forever!

We Interrupt This Life to Bring You Baseball Season

Are you ready for some baseball? February is here and that means Spring Training is underway. The Rangers' Spring Training is held in Surprise, Arizona. Surprise is located right outside of Phoenix.

Kelly reported to Spring Training last week while I flew in last night. My flight started off with some nice turbulence and ended with a nice hard landing. All I could think of was the United flight that just crashed the night before which made me very nervous... You know what happens when I get nervous??? That and I get super sweaty. So poor Kelly found me right outside of baggage claim with clammy hands and a sweaty forehead. What a site I was!

We did see two famous people at the airport. Marla Sokoloff from Dude, Where's My Car and The Practice as well as former player Homer Bush from the New York Yankees. You never who you will see at the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. Keep your eyes open!

If you do not know, Kelly is a Food Network Junkie. That is pretty much on the TV 24/7. I have now grown to love Food Network and get super excited when we find new places to go courtesy of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. They found this one place in Gilbert, Arizona that looked so good that we had to add it to our list. So as soon as we landed, we headed off to the booming metropolis of Gilbert where we found Joe's Farm Grill. The restaurant is actually on the 12 acre farm so you can walk the garden and see what you are going to consume. Everything is made from scratch and made with local products (even the beef!). Kelly and I had amazing burgers but the highlight of the meal were the sweet potato fries with a pineapple Serrano dip. It was out of this world good. We really wanted dessert but were super full! We decided to take a walk around the farm to see if that would help. We went up and down the garden looking at all the produce. It made us wish we had a garden! They also had huge grapefruit and orange trees all over. Kelly really wanted to pick one but I didn't feel like making a trip to the Gilbert jail so he restrained himself. While on our walk, we came to a huge tree that had a sign that read "Beware of Falling Scorpions". Thanks for the warning!!! We finally decided that we could have a dessert so I got a real vanilla bean milkshake and Kelly got a fresh berry sundae. We enjoyed them as we sat outside under the stars next to the mountains.

Arizona is so beautiful. From the palm tree lined streets to the mountains, everywhere you look is so pretty and so different from Texas. I am excited that I get to spend the next 6 weeks out here with Kelly and find more unique spots like Joe's.
